The Mint Concept is a two-door electric city car from the Genesis brand that they would like to see produced in the near future.

It has two reverse-opening scissor doors and comes in a unique mint color that is sort of a matte Hunter Green. It first debuted at the 2019 New York Auto Show. This is probably because the company officials said that they could find a niche in a crowded urban environment like New York.

Hyundai's global head of design, SangYup Lee, said, "We don't want 'Big car is expensive, small car is cheaper.' We want each car to have its own character." He says that luxury in the automotive world has been about size, but he wants to break the mold. He went on to say that this vehicle wasn't meant to be a performance car, but a design statement like the original Audi TT.

The new grille is a tiny V-shaped opening at the base of a bigger crease that echoes the grille's shape. It has huge wheels that are pushed out to the corners. The wide rear haunches reminds of us of the Porsche Boxter, and other mid-engine sports cars.

The interior is Cognac leather and has a two-across bench seat that could actually fit three. Both the bench and the entire instrument panel are powered. Everything is pretty minimal, having only a small screen in the center of the steering wheel and three round touchscreen bottoms on each side of the wheel. Having a minimalist design was very important for this vehicle.

There will be a control in the center arm rest that will rotate around when the car is turned on, to become the control for the driving modes. This will let you know that the car is on, which can be difficult to tell when driving electric.

The cargo area is a little different than the typical trunk space. Items are loaded in and out through reverse opening scissor doors. Since there is a charging port in the rear, it would be difficult to load items that way.

The Mint Concept is just that, a concept, but designers are fairly confident that we will see this vehicle come to life in the near future.

Keep checking back with us!
